Mind and Body Connection

Massage is defined as the systematic manual or mechanical manipulation of the soft tissues of the body by such movements as rubbing, kneading, pressing, rolling, slapping, and tapping, for therapeutic purposes.

Massage improves circulation of the blood and lymph, releases chronic tension and pain of the muscles, restores metabolic balance, increases flexibility in the joints and the muscles,and reduces both mental both physical fatigue. When a person has sore, aching muscle, abdominal pain, or other aching ailment, it is natural and instinctive to touch, press, hug, or rub part of the body to relieve pain.

According to artifacts found by researchers in several countries, massage belongs to one of the earliest remedial practices of human kind. Ancient cultures used them not only for healing, but to improve their sense of well-being and physical appearance.

At the Mind and Body Connection indeed we are trying to prove the above and connect the relation between the mind and body.

The health benefits of positive thinking

Studies show that some personality traits, such as 0ptimism and pessimism, can affect many areas of your health and well-being.

As per a Mayo Clinic Staff, at www.MayoClinic.com researchers continue to explore the effects of positive thinking and optimism on health.

Health benefits that positive thinking may provide include:

* Increased life span

* Lower rates of depression

* Lower levels of distress

* Greater resistance to the common cold

* Better psychological and physical well-being

* Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease

* Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress

It's unclear why people who engage in positive thinking experience these health benefits.

One theory is that having a positive outlook enables you to cope better with stressful situations which reduces the harmful health effects of stress on your body.

It's also thought that positive and optimistic people live healthier lifestyles,they get more physical activity, follow a healthier diet,and have reduced rates of smoking and alcohol consumption.
